Pastor's Study

Meet our minister! She would welcome a call, e-mail, or visit with you.

The Rev. Lee Ann Bryce was called as pastor in July, 2002. During her pastorate, Community Christian Church has become a thriving, dynamic, inclusive community of faith characterized by creative, multi-cultural worship, a strong justice and outreach mission, and diverse spiritual formation offerings such as centering prayer, small spiritual reflection groups, contemplative retreats, and Taize services. The numerical growth CCC has experienced over the past few years is remarkable, but it is the spiritual growth of its members that is most significant.

Rev. Lee Ann attended the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado, in 2002, earning her Masters of Divinity degree. While at Iliff she received numerous awards for worship scholarship and innovation and concentrated course work in theology and Bible. She studied voice and music education at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, where she received her Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1984.

A passionate advocate of justice for all of God’s children, Rev. Lee Ann has devoted her life to the nurture of healthy, affirming communities. She says, “My vision is that anyone seeking a deeper relationship with God can come to Community Christian Church and find a welcoming community that will accept them, care for them, provide the means by which they can explore and celebrate their relationship with God, and be challenged to live their faith in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ.” She describes herself as a Christian pluralist. “I identify as a follower of Jesus, but I believe there are many paths to God. What is important is that we recognize our path and pursue it with dedication and zeal. ”

Rev. Lee Ann’s biblically-based sermons are characterized by her fervent faith and personal anecdotes, as well as her sense of humor to convey a spiritually uplifting, motivating, and relevant message. Her warmth and friendly personality make her easy to talk to and her energy and enthusiasm build community and encourage church members to do their ministry in the world.

Asked to describe the church, Rev. Lee Ann says, “Everyone is welcome here: believers and agnostics, conventional Christians and questioning skeptics, people of all sexual orientations, the despairing and the hopeful, those of all races and cultures, and classes and abilities. Jesus didn’t turn anyone away – neither do we.”

Lee Ann is the proud mother of her 21-year old son, David, with whom she loves to spend time laughing, tossing the football, and going to movies. She is an avid chef and enjoys fine wine, reading, art, and music.
