Music
A unique aspect of Community Christian Church is our exceptional music program. The creative use of music enhances weekly worship, special seasonal programs, and frequent Taize prayer services. If you are musically inclined, we welcome you to a vocal or instrumental choir! If you prefer to listen, we think you’ll find your worship experience made more meaningful by the professional quality of music typically found at CCC.
Our minister has an extensive music background. She has a Bachelor’s degree in music education and performance, has conducted choral groups and served as minister of music for 20 years, and lends her vocal, piano, and guitar talent regularly to our services.
Senior Choir - Our adult choir sings at Sunday worship and provides special programs, such as Christmas Cantatas and special Maundy Thursday services. Paid staff members include Ron Strong, choir director, and Janet Herman, organist.
Children/Junior Choir - Two special choirs for youth rehearse periodically and sing on occasion during our service. Children’s Choir directors are Jeannie Strong and Lorena Garmezy. Junior choir directed by Ron Herman.
Hand Bells - Directed by Becky Braid, this group of youth and adults is a three octave hand bell ensemble and plays throughout the year.
Instrumental Choirs - Brass, woodwinds and string instruments often provide music for worship services.
Special Music - Congregation members provide special music during the summer months.
