Make a Difference
Our lives brighten when we make a difference in the world for good. Service to others and justice/witness ministry are vital aspects of our expression of Christian faith. Community Christian Church has a very active outreach ministry. We believe it is a Christian imperative to reach out to meet others in need and to be agents of social change, speaking out for the marginalized.
Get involved (walk the talk!):
- Stock shelves at the SWEM (Southwest Ecumenical Ministries) food cupboard each month or donate food.
- Join a worktrip to serve outside of Rochester. Past trips have been taken to Kentucky and New Orleans.
- Work at the Salem Soup Kitchen every Monday, preparing and serving a hot meal to Rochester’s homeless.
- Join a workteam to build a house with Habitat for Humanity.
- Walk in the Pride Parade. Gay and straight join together. For the past two years, CCC has had the largest church group participating in the parade!
- Donate items for baby kits for Church World Service for overseas distribution to needy families.
- Contribute blankets, gloves, socks, and towels to people in need in the community.
- Participate in our annual Red Cross Blood Drive. Work the registration table, assist Red Cross workers, or donate blood.
- Volunteer with other CCC folks at local agencies such as Alternatives for Battered Women, Literacy Volunteers, and Refugee Resettlement.
